Description
This course explores advanced internal combustion engine (ICE) technologies that are increasingly standard in modern vehicles, including turbocharging, variable valve timing, GDI and multiport fuel injection, cylinder deactivation, and electric-assist components. Participants will learn how these technologies improve fuel economy, performance, and emissions while creating opportunities for maintenance, diagnosis, and repair. The course also provides practical guidance for recommending and selling complete solutions to both technicians and DIY customers.
The learning objectives for this class are:
-
Identify and explain key advanced ICE technologies and their roles in improving fuel economy, performance, and emissions.
-
Recognize common failure points and maintenance requirements for components such as turbos, VVT systems, GDI injectors, and electric pumps.
-
Apply knowledge of complete component programs to effectively support customers and technicians with diagnostics, repairs, and product recommendations.
