We've touched base in the past, albeit briefly, on one of AVI's newest education programs that we label "coaching" in both name and content. This program does exactly what the title represents; a program where a knowledgeable instructor educates and guides the student on subjects they are interested in, expanding their knowledge.

Partially developed to answer the Covid challenge, we were pleased to find that responses from participants with this new live, remote format were favorable, even without Covid protocol. We found that this instructor-led streaming training hit a sweet spot in the automotive industry from convenience, price, and quality viewpoints. Although we initially presented just a few courses, the response has been so overwhelmingly positive that AVI and The Group Training Academy are expanding what we will be offering in this format. To add to our automotive and diesel offerings, we are moving into the professional development side of training with our new Service Advisor coaching program. Taught by respected industry professional Frank Leutz, this course will educate from his wealth of knowledge on building better relations to external customers (clients) and the internal customer (your technicians). The service advisor truly is the hub of any automotive shop, solely responsible for the effective movement of information from the client to the tech.

We couldn't recommend this course any higher. If you want your shop to run more efficiently (and make you more money), this is the course for you. Learn more and sign up here.

Oh, and if you have training needs that you think a customized coaching program can fill, just ask. We're just scratching the surface on what this level and format of training can do, and we would greatly appreciate your feedback.

Meet Frank Leutz

After learning the ropes as a mechanic, he ventured out starting his first automotive shop in 1996 with $4,000, a used hoist, floor jack and lots of naive determination. Six years later, he profited through the sale of that business, and in 2004 opened Desert Car Care of Chandler in Chandler, Arizona.

Desert Car Care expanded to a second location in 2009 and a third in 2012. Both were sold in 2013 to focus on the Chandler operation which grew to become a nationally recognized and award-winning seven-bay, top 1% national gross revenue automotive repair shop.

Frank took his leadership abilities to serve as President of the Phoenix Chapter of the Automotive Service Association from 2013-2017. In 2016 he was elected, and continues to serve, on the National ASA Mechanical Operations Committee representing over 5,000 independent garage owners across the country. In addition, Frank has created the award-winning weekly radio\podcast show Wrench Nation while premiering the unique & fascinating automotive talents & lifestyles of the industry.
