ECE-R90 guarantees the same performance as the OE brake component. In North America, there is no government regulation that reiterate brake parts to be certified to meet OE speciation prior to being sold. However, Europe has strict quality standards. ECE R90 is for European vehicles. This ensures testing the brakes to meet the standards. The regulation measures brake pads and linings for cold performance, speed, sensitivity, friction behavior, compressibility, shear and hardness. ECE-R90 is required for all replacement brake disc and linings sold throughout the European Union.
