It then looks at the upstream and downstream O2 sensors to see how close to perfect it determined the air/fuel ratio. By using a scan tool and a scope we can monitor these actions and use the data to determine likely causes of concerns. Using the downstream O2 is particularly helpful in determining the cause of intermittent misfire.
