Well, the 2022 AVI Training Conference was, by all accounts, a great success. Holding an event, at a location like the Sanibel Harbor Resort, sure doesn’t hurt. The resort itself is a huge, beautiful complex, blended in with the natural beauty we here are so blessed with. It’s nice to share all of this beauty with our northern friends, that we're sure needed and deserved a break from winter.
Thursday night kicked off in the pool area. Being outside in the wide open gave us the opportunity to show off both our award winning, cutaway Prius hybrid/electric training tool, and thanks to Dave Hobbs and our friends at Delphi Technologies, we had a Mustang Mach-E for our guests to check out. We even got to set up and display our Honeywell balloon, which was made to look like a giant, 16 ft. tall canister of R1234yf. To top this welcoming reception off, attendees were treated to the almost smooth sounds of AVI’s house band, “A Few Rough Edges”.
On Friday morning, things started off with the hotel serving breakfast, at 8:00 am. Aggressive training requires good nutrition. Once breakfast is out of the way, it’s time to go to class. Conference attendees chose from “6.7 PowerStroke Diesel Diagnostics” with Tom Rayk, or “Hands-on Electrical” with Mark DeKoster. And just down the hall, Bill Haas was presenting “Hire the Best & Forget the Rest”. Classes ran from 9 till 12, when we went on break for lunch.
Once our attendees were re-fueled, back to the classroom for Part 2 of Tom’s diesel class or sit in with John Forro as he teaches “The Ins and Outs of High Voltage”. Bill Haas delivered his “Achieving Operational Excellence” class. Helping businesses learn how to become the market leader with strategies to deliver an exceptional experience for employees and customers.
Saturday’s training lineup included Frank Leutz of Wrench Nation teaching “Service Advisor Strategies for Success” & “Real World Phone Skills”. Ryan Kooiman from Standard Pro Training presented “GM Engine Controls – New Technology”. John Forro, Dave Hobbs, and Tom Rayk taught “Vehicle Electrification Systems” using the Ford Mustang Mach-E and The Group Training Academy’s famous hybrid cutaway Prius. Once the training ended, it was time for dinner and a cruise!
We will keep you updated on the 2023 AVI Conference (Jan. 12th - 15th) information throughout the year! Stay tuned, the countdown has begun!
