WHAT DOES THAT PATTERN MEAN HANDS ON ELECTRICAL TRAINING

FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 • 9:00 AM - 12:00PM

INSTRUCTOR
MARK DEKOSTER

Pretty much everything in or on the modern vehicle has wires going to it. That means to analyze many concerns you need to connect a device that will look at electrical circuits and what they are doing. What does it mean when I connect my Digital Multimeter and it reads…? What does it mean when volts are low, and amps are high? What does it mean when volts are high, and amps are low? What do those patterns on an oscilloscope mean?

In the "What does it mean?" Electrical Class we'll cover electrical circuit and component testing using the tools you need to determine if the circuit or component is faulty and what to do to fix the concern. We'll show you what you're really expected to do when the service manual asks for a resistance test on a circuit. You'll get the chance to make these tests yourself in the class and learn how to use the right tool, the right way, at the right time, to analyze everything from the headlight to the taillight and all components in between.

INS AND OUTS OF LOW AND HIGH VOLTAGE

FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 • 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

INSTRUCTOR
JOHN FORRO

This course covers the practical ins and outs of low and high-voltage electricity theory through lecture and examination of electric vehicle components. Your instructor will show proper testing and servicing procedures involved with traditional 12-volt systems and the newer high voltage components found in electric vehicles.

High voltage components covered in this course include the HV battery pack, inverter assembly, converter assembly, electric air conditioning compressor, and Motor generators 1 and 2. A heavy emphasis will be placed on safety as well as real-world diagnostic testing and repair procedures.

This course is ideal for both the new student looking to learn about basic electrical theory and the more advanced technician seeking knowledge on high-voltage systems in modern electric vehicles

  • Communicate how a battery works
  • Define electrical terminology
  • Illustrate Ohms law
  • Generalize how fuses operate
  • Contrast series and parallel circuits
  • Illustrate the operation of multimeters
  • AND MORE

HIRE THE BEST & FORGET THE REST

FRIDAY, JANUARY 14 • 9:00 AM - 12:00PM

INSTRUCTOR
BILL HAAS

Ever feel like you have a revolving door for employees? Do you fear hiring new employees because at least with your current staff, you know what you have? Not sure how to attract the right applicants? Or wonder why the quality people did not stay?

Probably one of the most important and least understood aspects of business is talent acquisition. Learn to be more successful in attracting qualified applicants when you improve your employment ads, job applications, candidate assessments, and interviews.

Good talent management extends the life cycle of an employee by creating an environment and culture that breeds success. Create expectations with job descriptions based on job activities and implement a two-way review process for employee and employer.

GM ENGINE CONTROLS NEW TECHNOLOGY

SATURDAY, JANUARY 15 • 9:00 AM - 12:00PM

INSTRUCTOR
RYAN KOOIMAN

The General Motors fleet of vehicles has been changing rapidly over the last half dozen years. Smaller and more efficient engines now dominate a fleet of downsized vehicles. At the same time, full-size gasoline pickup trucks are still very popular. Producing vehicles with high fuel efficiency and customer demands for performance has brought interesting changes. Computer networks and safety system complexity has grown as well. The goal of this class is to prepare aftermarket technicians for the diagnosis and repair of the new engine control systems found on GM vehicles. During the class, we will present tips and procedures that will enable the technician to diagnose these faults quickly and accurately.

After completing this class, a technician will be able to

  • Explain turbocharged engine fueling and evaporative control
  • Evaluate variable valve lift and timing faults
  • Analyze fuel trim data
  • Evaluate GDI faults
  • Diagnose high and low-speed communication faults

ACHIEVING OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
